About Us
History
Our story starts way back.
Cameroon Farmers Empowerment and Development Organization (CAFEDO) is an independent, non-governmental and non-profitable organization established by a group of like-minded persons with experiences in different sectors to promote capacity development and provide opportunities to youths and women. It is affiliated child protection cluster and with the WASH and Food Security clusters in other to enhance access to information for the benefits of her target population especially to those in the rural communities.
CAFEDO is involved in different areas of work such as youth professionalism, youth development and capacity building, health, education, research, environment & Climate Change, youth and women empowerment and Social and Economic Advancement.
CAFEDO promotes the welfare of vulnerable and marginalized youths through development of professionalism and providing them with self-reliant opportunities.
CAFEDO aspires to improve the living conditions of the poor and marginalized groups by adopting strategies through participatory approaches in community initiative. It was founded in 2010 and officially registered in 2015 and its main working field is in the North West Region.
CAFEDO is working among backward communities in the interior hard to reached communities where youths and Women self-support groups have been taken as the base for all interventions enabling them to contribute towards the mainstream of development processes. It has partnerships with other local NGOs and people of good will who are passionate about the welfare of people in need. In 2023 CAFEDO extended her interventions in to the aspect of inclusive education, hygiene and sanitation with focus on rural school children especially at the basic level.
CAFEDO is comprises of diverse and dynamic group of competent young people from different background with specific qualities that has helped to sustain and run the organization. From mental health, psychosocial support to management, economic empowerment, social sciences and information technology, the team members are well-equipped with skills in program planning, implementation, monitoring and report writing.
OUR WORKING MODALITIES:
CAFEDO works with children, youths and women development Programme by implementing organization collaboration with partner organizations. We work in collaboration with the both home based and INGOs and community groups as relevant. Moreover, we collaborate with local governance, private professional development, care providers and teaching institutions, young professional organization and corporate sectors for the effective implementation of its programmes. Our current practices of implementing programs and activities include getting approval from the concerned departments/agencies. After the approval, induction meeting is conducted with all relevant stakeholders and partners to inform and communicate about the programs. Likewise, communication and coordination are done with local level stakeholders and local partners. Only after approval and coordination with stakeholders, the program/activities are implemented in the concerned areas. After the program implementation, program evaluation and feedback are collected. Necessary reporting is conducted to the concerned agencies and the program comes to the end in the closure phase.
OUR POLICIES:
At the policy level, CAFEDO operates within the ambit of functional policies which have been developed to regulates her management body, staff, volunteers, contractors and others partners. Some of these core policies have already been uploaded into the UN partner portal while the others are still undergoing an editing process. It is worthy to mention that all engaged CAFEDO workers have signed engagements with the child protection policy, code of conduct for staff, PSEA policy, Reference check policy and the whistle blower while awaiting final edit of the others.
GEOGRAPHICAL COVERAGE:
CAFEDO is registered in Bamenda and currently has operational presence in Mezam and Momo divisions, with focal points in Ngoketunjia and Bui divisions who have been laying down ground work for activities to go operational in January 2025. However we have prospects of covering the entire Region before stepping out of the North West.
